Yes. Even if you lease space in a commercial plaza along Manchester Road you will pay new taxes and fees. Businesses in Manchester are subjected to their business license program, which is a form of gross receipts tax. For every dollar in sales, your business will owe Manchester a fraction. Depending on the size of your business and the number of sales, you could owe hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. For example, a big box store with at least $35 million in annual sales will get a $17,800 tax bill from Manchester and a car dealership with $75 million in annual sales will get a $37,800 tax bill from Manchester.

Additionally, this will add another accounting layer as you will have to report your sales to the city.

Businesses in unincorporated County are not subject to any such gross receipts tax and the County’s business license is a simple process with flat low rate of $50, no matter the sales volumes.
